To all Competitors, Volunteers, Judges and Delegates
The weather this year was a disappointment for all involved. As everyone is aware this portion of the event is totally out of our control. We however attempted to switch the cross country portion to Sunday in a last ditch effort to save the day. On Saturday we became aware our efforts would not be reality and called it around 9:30. To that I offer my heart felt apologies.
The course was set on April 12 weeks in advance of the show date. Brush was ordered, delivered and installed on the course. This work is preformed by my dedicated group of volunteers that make this show a reality every year.
This was our 19th year, so we are all disappointed when months of planning, countless hours of work, calls, meetings and staging take place and then the rains come. The week of the show saw record rain falls recorded in the books for central Indiana.
As the show organizer I want to thank each and every one of you that stuck by us and attended the event. We hope you enjoyed what we were able to offer by way of a one day event.
The cross country course was partially under water and most of the roads were inaccessible. You may wonder why that is important? EMT’s and Ambulances are our first and primary concern when an event takes place. An ambulance and crew would not have been able to make it onto the course during the event if an accident were to occur. Safety is our primary concern and obligation to all competitors, and spectators at our event.
We hope you will join us next year for our 20th Penny Oaks Horse Trials, surely the weather will be better. Happy Riding for 2017 and all the luck in your competitions.
